Spotted! what3words on Northumbrian water signposts

Northumbrian Water has started adding what3words addresses to its public way-finding signs on their water reservoirs. Kielder Water is the first site, but there are more to follow.

Exciting news from Australia! what3words has now been integrated into the BART app, which is used by around 80,000 volunteer First Responders throughout Australia, particularly rural and country fire services.

Hi everyone! I'm Maddie – Creative Lead here at what3words. My role involves a lot of writing and creating things that help us explain what3words and get more people and businesses using it. That means making videos, websites, emails, tv campaigns and much more.

I'm also the only what3words team member who has no street address – I live full time on a canal barge, so what3words is essential to my life and my local boaty community.

Here I am on a Zoom with the rest of the what3words marketing team from the boat roof during the lockdown last spring!

We recently spotted this lovely idea for getting kids outside, learning about nature, using technology and even learning new words! The parent/teacher uses the in-app photo feature to create photo cards with what3words locations on. The child then uses the what3words app with voice input to read out the words and then navigate to the exact spot in compass mode.

What do you think? She seemed to really enjoy it!

Last year we got to know Miller, who used what3words to tell Yorkshire emergency services where to go when a tractor hit his Nanny's car, trapping her inside. He's only 12 years old, but told his story so well.
